BabyDresses
When we talk about dresses baby can wear the
first dress that comes to the mind is the babasuit made of soft cotton – voil fabric. It is a simple dress with
just two tags to tie behind the baby. The best color for this baby dress is white,
baby pink, baby blue etc. This is usually made on single piece of cloth with holes for arm and cutting for neck.
The arms, neck and sides are done with in-turns. Sometimes small piping is given for the arms and neck. There will
be no buttons or hooks but tags on either side to tie behind the neck. This ensures that the baby will not get hurt
or be uncomfortable lying on its back as it will be doing so in the early days.
To make a baba suit you will need a piece of cloth measuring18 to 20 inches horizontally and
about 6- 9 inches vertically depending on the roundness and length of the baby. When you have cut such a piece,
fold it equally from both sides to have the opening in the back. Again fold the cloth width vice in equal length so
that the cloth falls in four layers. Then from the end where there is the opening, make a mark at about 2 inches
distance on the length as well as the breadth. Join the two marks with a nice half circle and cut through the
curve. On the other end mark around 4.5 inches down and about 1 inch to the side. Once again make a curve for the
arm pit by joining the 2 marks and cut it off. The cutting for the babasuit is over.
Now you may either hand stitch it or use a machine. All you have to do is join the shoulders and
do in-turns at all the raw ends and stitch on the in-turns and fix a tag on top of the opening on either side of
the suit. To make it more attractive you may also do small embroidery works on the baby
dress.
