You can save the paper cuttings for using later, when you want to make a new dress, as long as you fit into the same size. Once you begin doing your dresses this way and feel more comfortable with the whole idea, then you may use your own imagination and make slight improvisations to your dresses to make them look different from your other dresses. This will not only help you save a lot of money but also help you develop your creativity. This method can be adopted to do any simple dress starting from baby dresses to dresses for any age.
